How To Open and Clean A Roomba Robot Vacuum’s Bin?

How To Open Roomba Bin

The steps to open a Roomba robot vacuum cleaner vary according to the model. The position of the bin release tab may be different in the roomba series you own than the series someone else has. Thus, it becomes vital to stick to the correct order and follow the right directions to dismantle and then assemble the robot correctly. Or else, you may end up paying a heavier price.
If you were looking for help on the roomba robot vacuum opening and cleaning process, this blog will walk you through the exact same steps. We have mentioned the steps to open and clean each roomba robot series so you don’t have to refer to some other source.

How To Clean E-series and I-series Robot

Here are the steps you can follow to remove the bin and clean it on the e-series and i-series roomba robots:

  • Press the bin release tab on the rear of the robot. You can identify this button/tab from the bin icon engraved on it.
  • Pull the bin to remove it from the robot body.
  • Open the bin door to empty the trash. You can do that by pressing the bin door release button. Once you have cleaned the dirt and other waste material, you can slide back the bin into its dedicated slot.

The 800 and The 900 Series

The roomba robot 800 and 900 series are also identified with the “Aeroforce” keyword. For optimal performance, the bin sensors on these series should be cleaned regularly.

  • Press the bin release tab on the rear of the robot. You can identify this button/tab from the bin icon engraved on it.
  • Pull the bin to remove it from the robot body.
  • Press and lift the filter door release button. You can remove the filter by pulling through the yellow colored tab.
  • Open the bin door to empty the trash. Shake the filter against the trash container to clean off the debris.
  • Once you have cleaned the dirt and other waste material, you can slide back the bin into its dedicated slot.

Moreover, cleaning the inner and outer sensor ports is also important for efficient performance. You can also wipe clean the sensors on your roomba robot using a clean and
dampened foam.

Cleaning The 700 Series Bin and Filter

The 700 series filter has a separate filter compartment door. You can remove the same to empty the bin. Remove the filters by pushing down on the yellow filter tabs.
Tap the filters against a trash container to clean the same. Make sure you do not wash the filters as it may damage them. Once you are convinced that they are clean, you can reinstall the filters.
Make sure the back tabs of the filter are properly inserted into the opening before finally closing the compartment door. Once done, you can re-insert the bin and begin using the robot again.

The 600 Series

Alike all the other roomba robot series, removing and cleaning the robot bin is easy. Here are some steps you can follow:

  • Use the Bin release tab to pull and remove the bin.
  • Open the door to empty the debris from the bin. You can remove the filter to shake off the debris attached to the filter.
  • Once the filter and the bin are clean, you can reinstall the filter and close back the bin

Cleaning The 500 Series

Use the bin release tab to pull and remove the robot’s bin. Empty the bin once it has been taken out.

  • Swing open the filter compartment and remove the filter by pushing it upward.
  • Shake off the debris or the waste attached to the filter surface by tapping the filter against the trash container. Remember not to wash the filter with water as they may cause trouble during the vacuum operation.
  • Once clean, reinstall the filter and secure it into its place using the filter tabs. Press the cap gently to lock the filter in its place. Now, close the filter compartment and re-insert the bin

Maintaining The 400 Series

  • Locate the bin release button and press the same to pull and remove the bin.
  • Empty the bin once removed. Clean the filter compartment and then clean/ replace the filter.
  • Before you reinsert the bin, make sure you inspect and clean the brushes.
  • Check if there are any issues with the dirt filter. Replace the same so the robot can function effectively.
The Final Word

Cleaning and maintaining the dirt filter and bin is important for the smooth functioning of your roomba robot. You can follow the steps mentioned in the blog above to do that every time you finish a cleaning session. For more help on how to do that, you can reach out to the team at our end.
